Blog 7 - Aritfical Inteligence vs Reality

This week’s reading, “How to think about 'AI,made me think and analyze how AI is changing the feel and usage of social media altogether. Instead of just showing us content made by individuals, platforms now shape our feeds using algorithms and certain systems that predict exactly what will keep us watching and engaging with content. It makes the online world feel more fake and staged than real life, almost like we’re scrolling through a digital put-on performance rather than just everyday posts.

The reading also made me realize how often I second-guess what I see online. Even normal videos sometimes look so polished that I catch myself wondering if parts of them were generated or changed by AI. That constant uncertainty becomes part of the experience. It isn’t always about being fooled, but about losing confidence in what counts as authentic and real. I genuinely do find myself missing real content, which I never had to second-guess if it was AI or not.

What stood out most is how AI is slowly reshaping our expectations of interaction. Artificial intelligence responds instantly and perfectly, which can make real conversations feel slower or more demanding. It made me think about how much of our reality online is shaped for us, and how easy it is to get pulled into a world that feels more controlled than anything offline.
